Carlos Masoch y Los Licántropos

Aunque pudiera parecerlo, no se trata de una banda de rock liderada por el múltiple Masoch, sino de su más reciente producción. Al cabo de muchas pruebas y errores, el artista de Chacarita dio finalmente con los materiales para llevar a cabo sus módicas personificaciones del mal, apelando, como la humanidad viene haciendo desde tiempos inmemoriales, a los hombres lobo. Los licántropos de Masoch, sin embargo, deben ser leídos a la luz de su obra previa: creaturas algo estrafalarias que, ya sea apelando a los sueños o a la historia, suman inquietud a nuestros días y desorden a un orden precario que exageradamente tenemos por bueno, hasta que nos llega el primer mordisco de la realidad.

An Impossible Yet Poetic Reality

Carlos Masoch was born in Buenos Aires in 1953.Masoch’s work is oriented towards the representation of images that cannotbe accounted for, but presented to us as if they were part of everyday life;depicting events, people, landscapes and memories in an unusual manner.Small paintings, tiny figures, and a dark palette, in which the grayishgreens prevail, are predominant characteristics of his paintings. The thickpictorial matter and the sensitive lines of his drawing are also recurringelements. Many of Masoch’s paintings have a strong, yet questionable,narrative, they are snapshots of the impossible, where everything isdepicted with pretended clumsiness, hesitant lines, creating pictures whichevoke mysterious events.
